Neptunes

This is an animated short film made by Evan Balster, Sarah Jecker, Julia White, Jonathon Guajardo, Kathryn King, Charlie Holmes, and Amanda Urratia through the Visualization Department at Texas A&M in Fall of 2021. The programs used are Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Renderman, Nuke, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop.

I worked on storyboarding, modeling, surfacing, animation, sound, and editorial.

Animation

I was responsible for animating the astronaut and space dog character. Both of these characters were made of metal, which meant that typical squash and stretch rules wouldn't apply. Instead, I focused on creating realistic follow-through as the characters came to a stop and start on the track. This helped to create believability for the mechanics of the machinery, and made the characters more expressive.

2D Animatic

This was my first experience creating a storyboard and 2D animatic. I learned a lot about planning timing , and making sure camera cues are clear from a drawing. We ended up making some changes once we moved to the 3D animatic. This was also my first draft of sound design - my final sound can be listened to in the final film.
